Beverly D. Deacon, DDS

Dr. Beverly Deacon, Owner

Meet Dr. Deacon

I chose dentistry basically for selfish reasons. When I was interviewing for dental school, I was asked why I wanted to become a dentist. I said, I wanted to be a dentist because I like making things with my hands, I enjoy talking with people, and I wanted to be able to take off to go on field trips once I had children. That pretty much sums up my 24 year career! I still enjoy the artistic aspects of my field, as well as the personal relationships. I have learned a lot from my patients over the years; as a dentist, a mom, and now the daughter of my elderly parents. Many of you have given me hints, encouraged me, commiserated with me, and laughed with me along life’s way.

In return, my practice is an extension of my personality. I consider my practice my main ministry outside of my family. I try to be a source of encouragement, and to lighten people’s day with laughter. I have prayed with and for many of my patients, and have been blessed by my patients’ prayers many times over the years.

Education and Continuing Education

I did my undergraduate studies at the University of Texas, Arlington, where I majored in Biology with minors in Chemistry and French. I went on to dental school at University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio, Dental Branch, and completed a General Practice Residency at Children’s Hospital of Oklahoma.

Generally I attend about 20 hours of CE a year on all aspects of the field. This helps me to keep up on changes in everything from dental materials to diagnostics to dentures. The more tools and techniques I am comfortable with, the more options I have in helping patients attain their dental goals.

Professional Organizations

Outside the Office

Born in Fort Worth, I moved around a lot as the third child of a Navy Chaplain and elementary teacher! Tom and I settled in the DeSoto area after completing residencies in Oklahoma. Now “mom” to three daughters, two Akitas, and my parents, my life has definitely changed. Hobbies such as hiking, traveling, cake decorating, and yoga have given way to volleyball games, my parents' doctor visits, and laundry for seven. I still get to read though, and still make time for my Bible studies, my comics, and books on foreign cultures. In summary, “whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” —Colossians 3:17
